Marco Benítez García

I'm a senior software engineer. Backend is my core, but I own the layers around it: the infrastructure, the pipeline and the dashboards. For the past three years that's been event-driven, multi-tenant SaaS at beyonnex.io in Hamburg, remotely, from Sanlúcar de Barrameda on the coast of Cádiz.

Day to day: .NET 10, Kafka and DDD, Terraform across a 23-account AWS estate, and a new Kotlin/Quarkus service I took from an empty repo to production. Before that, a decade in the utilities and enterprise-integration trenches: Hitachi Vantara, Servinform, and eight years freelancing, from custom software to Linux servers and penetration testing.

Open to senior or staff roles. Fully remote, EU

Multi-tenant SaaS for the energy sector. I own epics end to end, from refinement and technical design through to deployment and monitoring, and I'm the technical contact for onboarding new colleagues.

  • Took a new service from empty repo to deployed and observable: chose the stack (Kotlin/Quarkus + Angular 22), wrote the ADRs, provisioned the database, built the CI pipeline and the Argo CD delivery onto EKS.
  • Led the main product's migration from SQL Server to PostgreSQL with AWS DMS: selection rules, verification tooling, and recovering the indexes the transfer dropped.
  • Own infrastructure as code in Terraform and Terragrunt across a 23-account AWS estate.
  • Kafka event pipelines with Schema Registry, using anti-corruption layers to keep service boundaries clean. Migrated a live topic off one of those layers onto the new platform (dual-write, production check, then contract) without breaking a downstream consumer.
  • A performance pass on the hot paths: N+1 queries gone, per-row lookups batched per page, history loading scoped to what's on screen. Every change landed with tests.
  • Observability as code: Grafana dashboards shipped via Helm, Sentry release tracking with SHA-stamped events.
  • Sped up the team's shared build-test-push pipeline: dependency caches keyed on lockfiles, shallow clones, parallel toolchain installs.
  • Wrote the team's internal AI engineering skills and project-context files, so AI-assisted development is a team practice, not a personal habit.

Hitachi Vantara

Senior .NET Developer · Delivery Management Lead · Madrid

The enterprise data-integration platform of a luxury retail group: a fleet of Azure Logic App workflows, Functions and Web API services keeping Salesforce, SAP, Oracle Responsys, Mulesoft, SharePoint and an MRI property system in sync. I was the third-highest contributor of around twenty engineers.

  • Built the loyalty and rewards pipelines whole (reward allocation, guest points, customer segmentation) plus the daily sales and invoicing flows feeding them.
  • Hardened reliability: cancellation-token timeouts, paginated leasing, and guarding run-state so a mid-run failure couldn't silently skip records.
  • Wrote the supporting tooling: mock API services so delivery didn't block on a third-party endpoint, and a Service Bus dead-letter reprocessor to replay poisoned messages.
  • Moved workloads to serverless on Logic Apps, provisioned with Bicep, delivered through Azure DevOps.

Servinform

Senior .NET Developer · Sevilla

On the cross-team, so I moved between client accounts rather than sitting on one product, generally onto whichever engagement had the hardest problem. Mostly utilities and financial services.

  • Spent most of my time there on the platform a major Spanish electricity utility used to recover from a billing failure that left 150,000 customers without invoices for nine months: daily market prices plus 50-100 GB of consumption CSV, crunched on EC2 to reconstruct the backlog. Cut that daily load from a full day to a couple of hours with a streaming CSV parser, bulk loading, and transformations pushed into the database.
  • Sole engineer on a client portal for a real-estate servicer: PDF invoice generation and download, and the arrears communications sent to customers in default.
  • Billing and reporting across the utilities sector: grid third-party access (ATR), the regulated social electricity tariff, and inherited systems for water and electricity providers.
  • Maintained an inherited portfolio of thirteen client codebases spanning .NET Framework 4.0 to .NET Core 3.1, plus a 100k-line legacy PHP platform and VB6 systems.
  • SOAP/WCF integrations with a major utility and a national mobile operator. Picked up Blazor in early 2020, months after it shipped.

Freelance

Software, infrastructure & security · Cádiz

Eight years working directly with local businesses. Custom .NET applications, and the whole stack underneath them: Linux servers (Apache, Samba, mail, VPNs), Docker environments, backups, network security assessments and penetration testing, and keeping office networks running around the clock. Linux is where I learned how systems actually behave. Mandriva around 2010, coaxing wireless cards into life with ndiswrapper, and it's stayed with me ever since.
